My work as a Hudson Valley photographer encompasses family photography, maternity and newborn photography, as well as portrait, headshot and branding photography. I strive to make each client's experience and product the best it can be. Part of this process is exercising my brain and creativity. For me this entails working on personal projects that allow me to play, learn, succeed and even fail.
My newest project is called Little Monsters. It is a project focused on Scottish folklore and fairy tales that let's kids play and lead as different mythological creatures which pushes my work and helps me find new places as a Hudson Valley photographer. It's an imagination win for me and the kids. I try to figure out how to use some basic things to make costumes that the kiddos then transform into breathing characters.

Meet Seelie, a fairy, https://britishfairies.wordpress.com/2021/01/24/the-seelie-and-unseelie-courts/. Not as sweet as depicted in the cartoons these days, example Dew Drop Diaries, https://www.netflix.com/title/81296783, if you know you know. These are more like Tinkerbell, fairies with attitude, https://movies.disney.com/peter-pan.
In Scottish folklore, the fairies are divided into two courts. The Seelie Court, which is generally good, but can be vengeful, and the Unseelie Court, which is malevolent. Seelie can be helpful and do your chores, but if unappreciated they absolutely will mess up your stuff. The Unseelie cause illness, blight and even something called fairy pox. Basically, they breathe on you and cover your body in blisters. This fairy is blight.
This Hudson Valley photographer brought a fairy tale to life using a black tutu as a collar, and a mask painted and covered in flowers from Michaels, https://www.michaels.com/. We shot at one of my favorite spots, if I have been your family photographer you have most likely visited, Burger Hill. Check it out here, https://www.winnakee.org/visit-our-parks-preserves/drayton-grant-park-burger-hill/. It is a wonderful spot year round offering fantastic skies and perfect for fairy tales.
