There's a new trail in town! And by new Vlei Marsh has been around for a few years, but it is a bit of a hidden gem and for this Hudson Valley photographer, a great place to visit, explore, and shoot!
Brought to you by the Winnakee Land Trust, who also care for Burger Hill, https://www.winnakee.org/visit-our-parks-preserves/drayton-grant-park-burger-hill/, Vlei Marsh, https://www.winnakee.org/visit-our-parks-preserves/vlei-marsh-preserve/ has a few very magical secrets. There are fairies! Yes, there a tons of little fairy houses sprinkled throughout the trails. You can visit the fairies, open their doors and leave gifts. It truly is wonderful. And I don't know who some of the gift givers are, but they leave seasonal surprises as well, little ghosts for Halloween, for example. There is also a big surprise to explore, but I'll let you and the kiddos discover it on your own.
Vlei Marsh has become a go to for me and my family. The kids get to bring beads, painted rocks, whatever tiny thing we can find and leave them for the fairies. As a photographer in the Hudson Valley, especially a family photographer, a visit to Vlei Marsh provides beautiful scenery with interactive fun.
