School is finally out. If you're like me you are so excited to be free of packing lunches for two whole months. I have no idea why that feels so overwhelming every morning. But yes, summer is finally here and no matter what you've planned for your kiddos, the evenings are long and beautiful and this Hudson Valley photographer would love to help you plan your summer session.
Some tips for your session.
The best time of day for your session is early evening when the sun is low and soft. Golden hour. This does mean a longer day, but a great location can help kids forget their sleepiness and explore.
Pick your outfits wisely. This does not mean perfectly coordinated at all, but it does mean that everyone should be at the same level of dress. If mom is wearing a pretty dress try to make sure that dad isn't in basketball shorts and a white tee shirt. Colors! As Stacey London said, it doesn't need to match, but it should go together. You can mix patterns and colors, but if you wouldn't wear it all together on your own body then use that as a rule when choosing outfits.
Hydrate! I don't mind helping to lug around some water bottles or snacks to make sure there are no cranky kids.
Try to relax. Don't worry too much about your kid's hair just let them be them and we'll find the magic together.
Check out these wardrobe choices! Everybody is different, but everyone makes sense together, so it looks casual and thoughtful. Nobody stands out, so that everyone can shine.
Ok, so I can't choose this location enough, even on cloudy days it is the perfect backdrop, but wow, when the sun is out it's amazing. Burger Hill, https://www.winnakee.org/visit-our-parks-preserves/drayton-grant-park-burger-hill/, located off of 9G right outside the village of Rhinebeck it's a great choice for locals, but it's also an easy to find, close by spot for visitors. And for your summer session this Hudson Valley photographer can't recommend it enough.
