Tips for Kid's Trip in the White Mountains/ Hudson Valley Photographer

While I love the Hudson Valley this photographer will get out of town whenever she can and this summer the White Mountains hit the spot, so here are some tips for a kid friendly trip.

Let me preface this by saying these aren't necessarily my favorite places, but they were well suited for legs that sometimes stop working, and certainly for kids who love water. And my kids' legs stop working out of the blue and they are seals.

Where we stayed. I picked two different motels, nothing fancy, but nice to have a little bit of a kitchen so we didn't have to go out for every meal.

  • Mt Liberty Cabins and Motel. https://www.mtlibertylodging.com/ Located in Lincoln, NH this spot was great because it backed up right on a river that was perfect for swimming and we had it to ourselves the whole time. It also had a pool and fire pits. Closer to Franconia.

  • North Colony Motel and Cottages. https://www.northcolonymotel.com/ Located in Bartlett, NH this spot was not a beauty, but we had a full kitchen and a living area. Of course, this also had a pool and fire pits, but it also had the craziest playground ever! Tons of big wooden structures, fire truck, monster truck, crooked fairy tale houses, so it was a big hit with the kids. Closer to the Whites.

What we saw. River after river. One mountain. One theme park. One very busy nature attraction.

Ok, so here's where the truth comes in... We had a great time and a terrible time, haha. If you know you know. My kids fought, complained, but also would say it was the best and ask to go back. Kid trips can surprise you in all ways. Here are a collection of photos where my kids are grumpy because they were grumpy and happy equal amounts.

This Hudson Valley photographer loves to get the heck out of town (as my kids would say), but traveling with kids can go from tears of joy to tears of madness in an instant, hopefully these tips help if you were planning a trip in the White Mountains. And just so you know... it's not just your kids, haha.
