Little weekend getaways are my life blood. I can't stay in one place for too long, but now that the kids are in school, the midweek trips are mostly on pause, so let's take advantage of those weekends! We took a trip to Eastham, MA on Cape Cod, and here are some tips for a stay that made the kids, plus this Hudson Valley photographer have a blast.
We stayed near Campground Beach, https://www.capecodbeaches.net/beaches/eastham/campground-beach/, which is on the bay with super low tides and zero waves, which made it relaxing for me because the kids could just run free and I didn't have to worry about rip tides and drowning.
If you're looking for some easy food and a varied menu for kids and grownups alike, Basco Grill is a great spot and about two minutes away, https://bascogrill.com/.
Another great spot for play is Stony Brook Gristmill, https://www.brewster-ma.gov/mill-sites-committee/pages/stony-brook-gristmill-and-museum. We went to see the Herring Run, which was about to end its course, but even though the fish weren't jumping the kids loved exploring the stone walls and water. It's a very pretty spot.
And one more beautiful outing would be Fort Hill, https://www.nps.gov/caco/learn/historyculture/fort-hill.htm. A short loop trail along the water with tons to look at. The image in the middle of the gallery will give you a sense of the views. Another great running opportunity.
I hope you enjoyed these tips from a Hudson Valley photographer, and mom of two, for a super fun and relaxing trip to Eastham, MA. Enjoy the gallery, photo magic can be found anywhere.
